A Prayer for Surrendering to Jesus

Writer: Chris MeyerChris Meyer

Heavenly Father,

We come before You today with hearts full of gratitude and humility. We thank You for the powerful truths You have revealed to us through the story of the rich young man. Lord, we acknowledge that we often fall into the trap of self-reliance and self-righteousness, thinking that our good deeds and adherence to rules can earn us eternal life. But we know that it is only through Your grace and mercy that we are saved.

Father, we ask for Your forgiveness for the times we have placed our trust in our possessions, our status, and our own abilities instead of in You. Help us to recognize the idols in our lives that are keeping us from fully surrendering to You. Just as Jesus called the rich young man to let go of his wealth and follow Him, we ask that You give us the courage to let go of anything that stands in the way of our relationship with You.

Lord, we pray for hearts that are fully surrendered to You. Teach us to trust in Jesus alone for our salvation, knowing that our righteousness comes from Him and not from our own efforts. Help us to walk humbly before You, recognizing our need for Your mercy and grace every day.

We lift up those who are struggling with the pull of materialism and the pressures of this world. May they find their true treasure in You, Lord. Transform our hearts and minds so that we may live lives that reflect Your love and generosity. Use us to bless others and to advance Your kingdom here on earth.

As we go about our week, remind us of the lessons we have learned through these messages. Help us to examine our hearts and to make a commitment to follow You wholeheartedly. We pray that Your Holy Spirit will guide us and empower us to live out our faith in a way that honors You.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.

Amen.
