A Word from the Vine No. 110: Stewardship and Accountability

Dear friends, welcome to the last episode of this three part series within "A Word from The Vine." In the previous episodes, we explored the influence of major donors and the importance of empowering every member. Today, we delve into the topic of stewardship and accountability, recognizing our responsibility as faithful followers of Christ. Let us gather in prayer and seek wisdom from God's Word.

As we conclude this series, we reflect on our role as stewards entrusted with God's blessings. Stewardship goes beyond financial contributions. It encompasses our time, talents, resources, and the accountability we have towards God and our church community. Let us delve into Scripture and discover the principles of stewardship and accountability.

I invite you to turn to Matthew 25:14-30, where Jesus shares the parable of the talents. In this story, a master entrusts his servants with different amounts of talents and expects them to use them wisely. As we delve into this parable, we gain insights into the principles of stewardship and accountability.

Stewardship is the recognition that everything we have, including our abilities, possessions, and time, ultimately belongs to God. We are called to manage these resources faithfully, honoring God in how we use and invest them. Our stewardship reflects our gratitude and love for the One who has blessed us abundantly.

Our stewardship extends beyond financial giving. It involves using our gifts and talents to build up the body of Christ, serving others with humility and love. It is through our faithful stewardship that we bear fruit and make a positive impact on our church community and the world around us.

As stewards, we are accountable not only to God but also to our church community. Our actions, decisions, and choices have an impact on others. It is vital that we exercise accountability and transparency in how we manage our resources, ensuring that they align with God's will and contribute to the well-being of our church family.

Luke 12:48 reminds us of our accountability. It states, "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." Let us recognize the responsibility we have been given and embrace it with humility and reverence.

Faithful stewardship requires integrity and a deep commitment to honor God in all areas of our lives. It means using our resources wisely, avoiding greed, and cultivating a heart of generosity. Our stewardship should reflect the character of Christ, demonstrating love, compassion, and selflessness.

Let us remember that our stewardship is not driven by personal gain or recognition but by a genuine desire to honor God. By faithfully stewarding our time, talents, and resources, we participate in God's kingdom work and contribute to the transformation of lives.

Today, we have explored the principles of stewardship and accountability. As we conclude this series, let us take these lessons to heart and apply them to our lives. May we be faithful stewards, recognizing our accountability to God and our church community. Let us strive to use our resources wisely, with integrity, and in ways that bring glory to God. I'm Pastor Loren Christensen of Danish Countryside Chapel.
