Greetings, dear friends, in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm Pastor Loren Christensen, and I'm grateful to share with you today a message that's close to my heart – "Trusting God's Presence."
You know, sometimes life's journey takes us through stormy seas and treacherous waters, just like a fishing trip I once embarked upon. The winds howled, the waves roared, and I found myself clinging to the boat, much like the disciples on the Sea of Galilee. And speaking of that, turn with me to Matthew 14:22-33.
In this passage, we witness the disciples caught in a fierce tempest, struggling against the very elements that threaten to consume them. But then, something remarkable happens – Jesus comes to them, walking on the water. It's a scene that's etched in our hearts, a scene that teaches us a profound truth: God's presence is unwavering, even in the midst of life's fiercest storms.
Just as Jesus walked on water to reach His disciples, He walks with us through our trials. He doesn't promise us a life devoid of challenges, but He does promise His abiding presence. In Matthew 28:20, Jesus assures us, "I am with you always, to the end of the age." Isn't that a comfort?
You see, my friends, the disciples' fear and doubt often mirror our own when we face adversity. Like Peter, we might take our eyes off Jesus and start sinking in the waves of uncertainty. But here's the beautiful truth: Jesus is quick to reach out His hand and rescue us, just as He did for Peter.
God's love is constant, even when our faith wavers. He doesn't abandon us in our moments of weakness. Instead, He draws near and extends His loving hand to lift us up. Psalm 34:18 assures us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."
When life's storms rage, and we feel like we're being tossed about, remember that God is right there beside you, just as He was with the disciples. Even when circumstances seem overwhelming, God's love is greater. Romans 8:38-39 reminds us that nothing can separate us from His love in Christ Jesus.
So, my dear friends, let's anchor our hearts in the assurance of God's unwavering presence. Let's find solace in the truth that even in the midst of life's tempests, we're not alone. With faith and trust, let's reach out to Jesus, knowing that He is always near to guide us through. May the words of Isaiah 41:10 resonate within us: "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. In His name, I pray. Amen.
