Well, my friends, we've come to the final episode of this short, three-part series of "A Word from the Vine," and today, we're tackling a big one – the call to discipleship. This is Pastor Loren Christensen, and I'm here to remind you that being a Christian isn't just about showing up on Sundays; it's about making disciples and being disciples. So, let's dive into it.
Our guiding light today is Matthew 28:19-20, where Jesus said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." In other words, folks, we've got a job to do.
Here's the deal, plain and simple. Being a Christian means answering the call to discipleship. It's not just about receiving, but also about giving. We're called to learn, grow, and then pass it on.
Now, this isn't a one-and-done kind of deal. It's a lifelong commitment. It means that from the moment Jesus enters your life until your last breath, you're on a journey of learning and growing. It means reading your Bible, praying, seeking wisdom, and living out what you believe.
But here's the kicker: it's not just about you. It's about the people around you – your family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers. You've got a responsibility to guide others on their faith journey, to share the good news, and to make disciples.
So if you take one thing away from the vine today, it's this: being a Christian involves more than sitting in a pew. It's about commitment – a commitment to personal growth and a commitment to guide others on their faith journey.
My friends, let's be a church that takes discipleship seriously. Let's read, learn, and grow together. And let's make disciples, spreading the love and truth of Jesus to all nations. That's the call, and it's time to answer it with all we've got.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Until next time, keep learning, keep growing, and keep making disciples. Amen.
