A Word from the Vine No. 541: All That the Father Has

Let me tell you a story.
Years ago, a young boy stood in his father’s workshop, watching him work with wood. The father was a master carpenter—steady hands, sharp eyes, and a heart full of patience. The boy admired him deeply.
One day, the father handed the boy a chisel and said, “Everything I have, I want you to learn. My tools are yours. My craft is yours. My name is yours.”
The boy didn’t earn it. He didn’t buy it. He received it—because he was his father’s son.
I'm Pastor Loren Christensen of Danish Countryside Chapel. Now listen to what Jesus says in John 16:15:
“All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.”
That’s not just a poetic phrase. That’s a declaration of divine identity. Jesus isn’t saying He borrowed something from God. He’s saying He shares everything with the Father—because He is one with the Father.
This is the heart of the Nicene Creed:
“Of one Being with the Father…”
Jesus is not a messenger. He’s not a prophet. He’s not a spiritual guru. He is God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God.
And here’s the miracle: the Spirit takes what belongs to Jesus—and declares it to us.
That means the love of the Father, the truth of the Son, the power of the Spirit—it’s all being shared with you. Not because you earned it. But because you belong to Christ.
So today, I invite you to rest in that truth. You don’t have to strive to earn God’s favor. You already have it in Jesus. Everything the Father has is His—and He shares it with you.
Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus,
You are one with the Father, full of grace and truth.
Thank You for sharing with us what we could never earn.
Help us to live as children of the Father, confident in Your love, secure in Your promises, and filled with Your Spirit.
Amen.
Until next time, this is Pastor Loren, reminding you to stay rooted in Christ, nourished by His Word, and growing in grace.
